Years of Experience
Right Hand Man was founded by a Houston-area tradesman with over 15 years running his own handyman business and more than 25 years of hands-on experience in home and office maintenance and repair.
Along the way, he became highly trained in smart home and office technology, including automation programming, networking, and device installation, plus everything it takes to keep a vacation rental guest-ready between every turnover.
Jack of all trades, master of most. If it needs fixing, installing, or programming, there is a good chance he has already done it a hundred times.
Founding Principles
The five rules we don't break
Honesty Over the Upsell
If it's outside our lane (permitted work, gas lines, panel work, main sewer lines), we tell you straight and refer you to a licensed pro. No stretching the truth to close a job.
One Call, Real Person
You talk to an actual human who shows up, not a call center reading a script. Bilingual (English/Spanish) service. Always.
Price Before We Start
Flat rates for known jobs, transparent hourly ranges for everything else, and a clear minimum. No surprise invoices, ever.
Respect the Home
Shoes off or booties on, floors protected, mess cleaned up. We treat every house like it's the one we grew up in.
Built for the Long Haul
We're not chasing one-off gigs. We're building relationships with families, seniors, and property managers who call us every time something breaks.

Leave a reviewThe Honest Truth About Licensing
Texas doesn't require a general handyman license. We still draw the line.
Texas law doesn't require a state-level license for general home repair and maintenance. But electrical, plumbing, HVAC, security systems, and permitted work require a licensed specialty professional. Here's exactly where we draw that line, in plain English, including for smart home and security tech.
What we handle directly
- Replace ceiling fans, light fixtures & switches on existing wiring
- Replace faucets, toilets, disposals & supply lines on existing plumbing
- Clear simple clogs, replace P-traps, fix toilet internals
- Replace like-for-like thermostats & battery smoke detectors
- Appliance repair, dryer vent cleaning, filters, bulbs & batteries
- Install smart locks, hubs, thermostats, and Wi-Fi networking gear
- Program home & office automation: lighting, locks, and scenes
- Handle full vacation rental turnovers and recurring maintenance
What we always refer out
- Anything at the breaker panel or new circuits
- Water heater installation & main sewer line work
- Full HVAC system work & gas line work
- Security camera, monitored alarm & access-control installs
- Permitted work of any kind
We'd rather refer you to a licensed electrician or plumber and keep your trust than take a job we shouldn't. We maintain relationships with vetted trade partners for exactly this reason.
